Mayflower Resort Park City Utah Announced

There’s a new ski resort coming to the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. Or maybe, just maybe, Deer Valley is about to get a lot bigger.

It’s too soon to tell but what is known is that The Mayflower Mountain Resort has been announced, a 5,600 acre resort with somewhere between 400 and 900 skiable acres. The new slopes would be located on the backside of Deer Valley Resort, next to the gated Deer Crest subdivision. They would face the expansive Jordanelle Reservoir that lies outside of Deer Valley, with a hefty luxury commercial base area along U.S. 40. 

Yes, it’s being touted as a new ski resort, but of scale and size that has not been seen in the United States since Beaver Creek opened in Colorado in 1980.

Deer Valley Resort is announcing $7.6 million in capital improvements for the 2019/2020 winter season. These capital projects are part of an ambitious improvement plan by Alterra Mountain Company totaling more than half a billion dollars through the 2022/2023 season, focused on elevating the guest experience at all 14 destinations.

Deer Valley will add RFID technology with new gantry gates and scanning for electronic ticketing around the resort over the summer and fall period in 2019. New ticketing media, with built-in chip technology, will enable the resort to use the best available technology to increase and upgrade the guest experience throughout the resort, including direct-to-lift access.
